Kalinga Dance Workshop - Oct. 4

Join LIKHA on Sunday, October 4, 2009 for a special opportunity to learn dances of the Kalinga people of the Philippines. Classes will be hosted by Manung Sapi Bawer and Lubuagan Kalinga Cultural Group of the Philippines.

The workshop is 3pm at Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts, 1428 Alice St., Oakland, Calif. 94612. We ask that you volunteer to donate a small fee to help us pay for the instructor's travel expenses.

About Manung Sapi Bawer

Born a Kalinga from native parents of the village of Mabilong, Lubuagan. Raised and nurtured in the Kalinga traditional values and ways of life. An educator, classroom teacher and principal, cultural worker, a resource person on Kalinga value system he initiated and contributed to the great revival of the Kalinga culture that elevated the town of Lubuagan as the cultural center of Kalinga.
